Every Christian is in a process of growth - none of us are perfect! For this reason, a Disciple of Christ should always remember to ask themselves, "Where am I in my relationship with God today, and how can I continue to grow? Spiritual Direction is a process that invites us to prayerfully ask these questions. This workshop will outline the basic process of Spiritual Direction, and give us some practical ways of determining "next steps" as we grow in our walk as disciples of Christ.

It's often said that there is a conflict between science and Christian belief. However, those who say this rarely articulate what that conflict actually is. We are often faced with a difficult question: If God is good and all-powerful, then why does He allow evil and suffering? This question is associated with an argument against belief in God: “If there were a good, all-powerful God, there wouldn’t be any evil or suffering. But, there is evil and suffering. So, there cannot be a good, all-powerful God.” Because Christian humility requires the admission that we cannot always understand why God allows evil and suffering, we may find ourselves wondering how we can respond to this argument. In this session we’ll focus on how we can respond to the argument without always having an answer to the question.

Michael will provide a theological understanding of the significance of the Old Testament for Christians today, and show how knowing and loving the Old Testament Scriptures is essential to our walk as disciples of Christ.

It is undoubtedly true that Christ calls his disciples to serve others. However, what's even more remarkable is that Christ himself, "though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men." This workshop will begin with a look at Christ's model of servanthood, then consider ways (big and small) we can emulate His model in today's world.
